Romance of the Three Kingdoms - a new Opera in China

“The empire, long divided, must unite; long united, must divide.“

Three Kingdoms is a Chinese Opera based on the events in the late Eastern Han dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period. The plot is based on Luo Guanzhong's classical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the historical text Records of the Three Kingdoms, and other related stories.

It is set in the turbulent years towards the end of the Han dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period in Chinese history, starting in 169 AD and ending with the reunification of the land in 280.

The story – part historical, part legend, and part mythical – romanticises and dramatises the lives of feudal lords and their retainers, who tried to replace the dwindling Han dynasty or restore it.

The Opera as never seen before, a show unique in its kind, with scenes projected on a wall of water. The characters of the show have come to life thanks to the three-dimensional animation.
